  The Chicago Fire earned a 2-1 road victory over the struggling Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park on Kids’ Day, powered by goals from Hugo Cuypers and Jonathan Bamba. Cuypers continued his strong start to the season, scoring his fourth goal late in the first half for the Fire (2-2-1, 7 points), who secured their first away win of the season. Fire  goalkeeper Chris Brady made three big saves as Chicago snapped a four-match winless run against Philadelphia and avenged last year’s playoff elimination. Philadelphia (0-5-0, 0 points) saw its difficult start continue, extending the worst opening ever by a reigning Supporters’ Shield winner.   The Philadelphia Union dropped a decisive loss to Atlanta United, losing their 4th game in a row. Atlanta largely broke through the Union’s press with ease, especially on the counter. On the other hand, Philly struggled to create, and were wasteful with their opportunities. However, they were able to find the back of the net for just the second time this season, the only silver lining in what was otherwise a dreadful display. First Half Review Philadelphia had the first real chance of the match early on in the 3rd minute. Makhanya used his body to win a challenge near the sideline, allowing Indiana Vassilev to find Milan Iloski. The West Coaster’s return pass was a perfectly weighted through ball to Vassilev again, whose cross picked out Bruno Damiani in the box, but the Uruguayan’s header flashed wide.   The Philadelphia Union’s home-opener did not go as planned, as the Union continued their disappointing start to the MLS season with a 2-1 loss to NYCFC. It was a heartbreaking night for the Boys in Blue, who fought their way back into the game after a rough first half, only to concede a red card and a winner in stoppage time. First Half Review The Union’s press seemed to create problems for City early on, but the away side grew into the game as the half progressed. NYCFC created a slew of chances starting in the 25th minute when Keaton Parks slipped a ball through to Agustin Ojeda, only for the Argentine to curl his shot off the post. NYCFC found their breakthrough in the 36th minute, when Nicolas Fernández ran into the Union box down the left side. Although Andre Blake saved his close-range shot, he could only parry it into the path of a wide-open Hannes Wolf, who smashed the ball home from close range.  Since we've now hit the World Cup break, I decided to review every single MLS game that Philadelphia Union have played thus far. I'll be giving a recap and a review of each game. First Half Review The opening half never quite found a rhythm, but Milan Iloski created the Union’s most dangerous moments. In the 21st minute, he sent one effort wide before forcing Sean Johnson into a sharp save just moments later. It was former Union striker Tai Baribo, however, who proved decisive. In the 23rd minute, he finished off a feed from João Peglow to give D.C. a 1-0 lead. Iloski nearly responded before halftime, bending a 30-yard free kick around the wall that Johnson managed to push aside. The Union went into the break trailing by one. Second Half  Review The Union came out with renewed urgency, and Iloski again tested Johnson in the 54th minute, driving a powerful effort that was tipped over the bar.   Despite a historic attacking performance and a first-half hat trick from Milan Iloski, the Philadelphia Union fell 6-4 to Inter Miami CF in a wild, record-setting match on Sunday night. The two sides combined for eight first-half goals, the most ever scored in the opening half of an MLS match, as the Union repeatedly fought back before Miami pulled away late behind a second-half brace from Luis Suárez and a stoppage-time goal from Rodrigo De Paul. First Half Review Philadelphia could not have asked for a better start, jumping ahead just four minutes into the match when Iloski finished off a move created by Frankie Westfield and Cavan Sullivan. Philadelphia Union faced Columbus Crew for the 2nd time this season at Subaru Park. Both teams have been struggling recently with a faulty defense from Columbus and an Attack that seems to be nonexistent from the boys in blue. Union were coming off a game of a game where they scored 3 whole goals and still lost the game in a 4-3 thriller.  First Half Review The Crew took a deserved 1-0 lead into halftime after controlling much of the opening 45 minutes against a disjointed Philadelphia Union side at Subaru Park.  The warning signs appeared early for the   Union when Bender picked up a yellow card in the ninth minute. Columbus immediately capitalized on the resulting set piece opportunity. André Gomes whipped a dangerous ball into the box that eventually fell to Hugo Picard at the top of the area, and the winger lofted his shot into the far corner in the 10th minute that left Blake with little chance.   Philadelphia Union face Orlando City SC at the Inter&Co Stadium on a midweek match day. Coming off a loss against New England Revolution , Union hopes to score some points before the World Cup break. Both Orlando and the Union currently sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with Orlando having the edge. Even if Union win today's game, they'll still be bottom of the table. Union have now gone 5 games straight without a win, earning 3 draws along the way.  What to Expect Both teams have been struggling massively recently as they both sit bottom of the table but Orlando's form recently has been decent. They've won 3 of their last 5 games whilst the boys in blue are winless in their last 5. Union has been benching Damiani more often than not recently so we'll probably see Cavan Sullivan starting once more. His brother Quinn has been closer than ever on his long recovery and we could see him playing soon. The World Cup break should be perfect for him ...

Philadelphia Union faced New England Revolution at the Gillette Stadium on Saturday. After finishing the game even against Nashville SC last Saturday, they came here hoping to secure some more points. Their results thus far have included 1 win, 3 draws, and 7 losses. New England came in with 6 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses.  First Half Review As we've seen more often than not, Union came swinging out the gates and being dominant early on. Frankie Westfield was injured on the 25' minute and was subbed off shortly. The injury itself remains unclear. Iloski applying pressure on the 37' minute allowed Union to go ahead after New England scored an own goal.  Second Half Review Union kept the form early on in the 2nd half with multiple chances to go 2-0 clear but as per usual, we were unable to finish and nothing came from it. Starting on June 11, 16 different cities will host World Cup matches including the first ever US capital, Philadelphia . Philadelphia will play host to 6 World Cup matches including a game in the Round of 16 on July 4th . A patriotic date in a patriotic city. You can't write the script any better.  June 14 - Côte d'Ivoire vs Ecuador (Group Stage) Philadelphias first game will be on Matchday 4. It will feature Africa's Côte d'Ivoire and South America's Ecuador . This game will be played on a Sunday at 7pm EST. Some notable players that will be featured will include Franck Kessie , Guela Doue , Amad Diallo , Yahia Fofana , and Nicolas Pepe on Ivory Coast's team. Some notable players on the Ecuador side include Moises Caicedo and Enner Valencia . Current tickets start at around $730 per person....

Philadelphia Union faced points leaders, Nashville SC on Saturday night. A case of David vs Goliath, they seemed destined to get destroyed. Coming off a 2-0 loss against Columbus Crew, moral seemed low. Union has home advantage for this game at Subaru Park but home advantage has proved to be much of a difference for the boys in blue this season.  First Half Review Union came swinging out the gates surprisingly as they seemed to be in Nashville's half majority of the time. A huge factor to this could be due to the fact that Nashville were playing their B team. Their best players like Espinoza or Mukhtar were on the bench to start the game. Cavan Sullivan was a starter for the third time this season. He proved to be a handful to the Nashville defense as he made many runs and played a few dangerous passes into the box but the score stayed leveled at the end of the first half Second Half Review The second half featured more of the same with Nashville having a few more attacks.   May the 4th be with you ! Philadelphia Union celebrate Star Wars weekend by facing Nashville SC at home. Nashville enter this game top of the league whilst Union sit at the very bottom where they've sat for the past 3 weeks now. Usually we would be calling home advantage but Union have managed to only score 1 point across 5 home games now. Our form has not been great coming into this game and we need our strikers to start striking.  What to Expect This will be a matter of damage limitation. Our defense hasn't exactly been bad and we haven't been conceding lots of goals. We currently sit tied for 8th across the Eastern Conference in terms of goals conceded despite being bottom of the table. Our biggest loss has been by 2 goals. Leaving this game with any points will be a huge win regardless of whether we'll still be bottom of the table or not. We are definitely not the worst team in the MLS currently and i'd even say that we're playoff worthy if we just get ...
